Humboldt Avenue Skate Park

SKATE PARK: SKATE PARK IS CLOSED DUE TO VANDALISM AND GRAFFITI AND WILL REOPEN MONDAY, APRIL 15TH.

This project embodies the power of civic collaboration. A motivated citizen group, Chico Skatepark Solutions, crafted a vision for an improved skate park. They approached the Chico Area Recreation and Park District with their appeal, which launched two years of hard work and persistence. Thank you to the numerous individuals and businesses whose support, donations, and enthusiasm made this community dream a reality.

The skate park expansion includes a bigger bowl and street features—more variety and new challenges for visitors. The improvements will encourage the growth of recreational skateboarding locally and perhaps make Chico a Northern California skateboarding destination.

PLEASE RESPECT THE SKATE PARK!

We will CLOSE THE SKATEPARK FOR 72 HOURS following ANY new graffiti on ANY skate ramps, bowls or concrete areas. Visit this page for information on future potential closures. Thank you!

Urban Art Zone

We are officially announcing Phase 1 of the Urban art zones at the park! Artists can create using the north, south and west (back and sides) of the building INSIDE the park. Please see the photos showing the urban art zones. We simply ask that artist keep their art rated PG (No vulgarity or obscenity.)

Every month, we will paint over the walls and the canvas will be new once again for more artists to have their chance to showcase their work. We will also begin featuring the artists work on our website and social media!

MEANWHILE, we’re currently planning Phase 2 of the urban art space coming very soon. The plan is to put panels along the westside fence creating WAY MORE square-footage of urban art space. The panels will be installed soon and we’ll announce the expected date of installation.

With all this said, graffiti and vandalism on concrete skate areas is STILL NOT ALLOWED. Please use urban art zones to create your works.

We can’t express this enough, thank you for your respect for the Humboldt Avenue Skate Park and we can’t wait to see what the Chico artists have in store for our beloved skate park!
