The Chico Area Recreation & Park District (CARD) is excited to offer a new flexible payment plan for summer camps, making it easier than ever for families to secure their child’s spot in a fun-filled summer of adventure, learning, and recreation.

Flexible Payment Plan Details:

  • Pay 50% of camp fees at registration.
  • The remaining balance will be automatically charged to the credit card on file on June 1, 2025.
  • Families may visit the CARD office before June 1 to pay by cash, check, or other accepted forms of payment.
  • Unpaid balances after June 1 may result in losing the camp placement to accommodate waitlisted families.
  • The payment plan option is available for eligible camps when registering up until May 30, 2025.

For questions, families can contact CARD at 530-895-4711 or info@chicorec.gov.

Expanded Jan Sneed Scholarship Program

In addition to offering flexible payment options, CARD is proud to announce enhancements to the Jan Sneed Youth Scholarship Program, reinforcing its commitment to ensuring that every child has access to enriching recreational experiences. Since its launch in 2004, this program has helped countless children participate in CARD activities at a reduced cost.

To better serve the Chico community, CARD has increased the scholarship amount to $400 per child, per year. The eligibility guidelines now align with similar assistance programs across Butte County, and families can conveniently complete the application online instead of in person. These improvements are designed to make the program more accessible and to help more children benefit from meaningful recreational and educational experiences.

“The Jan Sneed Scholarship Program has always been a big part of how we support our community,” said Holli Drobny, CARD Administrative Director. “By improving and expanding it, we can give even more kids the chance to learn, play, and grow with us.”

Swim Scholarships Available Through Butte County Public Health

CARD is proud to collaborate with Butte County Public Health to promote water safety and physical fitness throughout Butte County. Butte County Public Health is committed to ensuring that all children, especially those who have never had swimming instruction, have access to essential water safety skills.

Through this partnership, the swim scholarship program is available for first-time swimmers, providing them with the opportunity to take swim lessons and build confidence in the water. For more information, please contact CARD at 530-895-4711 or info@chicorec.gov.

With these new payment options and enhanced scholarship opportunities, CARD continues to make summer camp and recreational programs more accessible for all families in the Chico community.
