Chico Area Recreation & Park District (CARD), in partnership with the City of Chico, is excited to announce the return of the beloved Chico Ice Rink!

Beginning November 1, the Downtown City Plaza will temporarily close as crews begin transforming the space into Chico’s coolest holiday tradition. The Chico Ice Rink will officially reopen on Thursday, November 14, 2025, welcoming skaters of all ages for another season of festive fun.

“The Downtown Chico Ice Skating Rink is a special part of the Holiday Season in our community," said Mayor Kasey Reynolds. "Thank you to CARD for helping to keep this festive tradition going, not only for our residents, but also for those visiting Chico during the holidays.”

This year’s rink will feature public skating sessions, themed events, cabana rentals, school field trips, and returning favorites like adult broomball—plus an exciting new addition: 3v3 adult ice hockey!

"The Chico Ice Rink is one of CARD's favorite offerings of the year," said Erin Morrissey, CARD Recreation Director. "It's such a fun way to start the holiday season, and we really enjoy working with our community partners to bring this magical tradition to Chico."

Be sure to mark your calendars for the grand opening celebration and follow along for updates on events throughout the season. For details, visit chicorec.gov/ice-rink and follow Chico Ice Rink on Facebook or @ChicoRecIceRink on Instagram.
