The Gobble Games

The Gobble Games at Chico Ice Rink: 20 November, 4–8 PM. Turkey-trot style fun, games, and prizes.

Celebrate Thanksgiving with a little frozen fun at The Gobble Games! Join us at the Chico Ice Rink for festive activities, turkey trot inspired ice rink relay games with fun prizes, live music from The Sun Followers, and fall crafts and face painting.

The evening wraps up with the ultimate showdown at 6 PM – the first-ever Turkey Bowl! Watch as two community teams use a frozen turkey as a bowling ball to knock down all the pins in this hilarious and friendly competition on ice.

⛸️ Ice Skating: $15 per person (or $12 when you purchase your skate ticket online!)

 

Schedule of Events

4–8 PM: Food Drive in partnership with the Jesus Center

4–7 PM: Live music by The Sun Followers, free face painting, crafts, and a Thankful Tree

4:30–5:30 PM: Let the Games Begin! Teams of 2–4 are invited to compete in these icy relay races:

  1. Baton Pass – Each player must “wobble like a turkey” across the ice rink before passing the baton
  2. Ping Pong Balance – One player must ice skate while balancing a ping pong ball on a spoon, if they drop it, they start over!
  3. Backwards Skate – One player must skate backwards up and back
  4. Three-Legged Skate – Two players tie their legs together and complete the race together!

6 PM: The Turkey Bowl! Chico Fire Department vs Butte County Sheriff's Department!

The Gobble Games

Think you’ve got what it takes to be a Gobble Games champion? Grab a partner (or a few!) and join the fun in our icy relay races! Teams of 2–4 will compete in a series of lighthearted Thanksgiving-inspired challenges — from wobbling like a turkey to mastering the tricky backwards skate. Each event will test your balance, teamwork, and sense of humor! Participation is included with your skating admission ($15 per skater, or $12 when you purchase your tickets online), and prizes await the most spirited teams.

Festive Fun Off the Ice

Not skating? There’s still plenty to enjoy! Stop by our craft stations to create your own fun fall crafts to take home. Add your message of gratitude to the Thankful Tree Wall and help us fill it with community appreciation. Enjoy live music from The Sun Followers, free face painting, and join our canned food drive in partnership with the Jesus Center to help support local families in need. All off-ice activities are completely free — just bring your holiday spirit!

The Turkey Bowl

The night concludes with the first-ever Turkey Bowl at 6 PM — an icy showdown you won’t want to miss! Two community teams (TBA) will face off in this hilarious competition, using a frozen turkey as a bowling ball to knock down the pins. Cheer on your favorite team and enjoy the laughter as we wrap up the evening with some festive fun!

Chico’s favorite acoustic duo, The Sun Followers, will be performing from 4–7 PM at The Gobble Games! Known for their heartfelt harmonies and lively covers, they’ll bring the perfect soundtrack for an evening of skating and community fun.
