Flag Football 7v7 Fall League: 2nd-8th Grade
Registration availability in all leagues is limited based on the number of staff/volunteers that are available and facility space. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Embrace the spirit of autumn with football fever! Dive into our lively, recreational 7v7 flag football league where teams not only hone their fundamentals and technique but also delve into a new "Word of the Week," spotlighting essential life skills nurtured through youth sports. Our mission goes beyond creating exceptional athletes; we aim to cultivate outstanding individuals, fostering character growth alongside sporting prowess.
Each team will have one practice a week and a 6-game guarantee during the season (6th grade and up will include an end-of-season tournament starting on game 6. No end-of-season tournament for 5th grade and below).
A General Youth Sports jersey is mandatory and can be purchased at the CARD Office for $18. All players must provide and wear a mouthguard at practices and games.
Teams will be loosely based on grade and where players attend school. Genders will be combined for volleyball. All teams will be formed at the discretion of CARD staff and, if necessary, skills evaluations.

General League Information

Updates: Players will be emailed their team information (from an @chicorec.gov address) by Friday 8/21/26 by 5PM.
Practices: All teams will practice on Mondays, 8/24- (practices still running on 9/7), at DeGarmo Park, 199 Leora Ct. Practice time slots will vary by division, but will all start at 5p or after.
Games: Game schedule will be posted at www.TeamSideline.com/chico by Friday 8/21/26. Games canceled due to rain or air quality will be rescheduled for up to one week at the end of the season. All other game cancellations will be refunded.
- 2nd-3rd Grade: Tuesdays, games run 9/1-10/6
- 4th-5th Grade: Thursdays, games run 9/3-10/8
- 6th-8th Grade: Wednesdays, games run 9/2-10/7
Uniforms: Players will be required to wear a CARD General Youth Sports jersey (available at the CARD office to purchase for $18), athletic clothing (preferably no red or yellow shorts/pants), and athletic shoes (non-metal cleats are optional) to all practices and games. Players must provide their mouthguards for all practices and games.
Coaches: Coaches in the 2nd- 5th grade leagues will be CARD volunteers. Coaches in the 6th-8th grade leagues will be CARD-paid staff.

Locations: Practice and games will be held at DeGarmo Park at 199 Leora Court. Specific field locations will vary based on availability.
Special Requests: One buddy request can be made during the registration process. Coach and practice requests are not accepted. Please read the buddy request process closely to ensure it is valid. Buddies must request each other to be a valid request.

Team Formation: Mini-league teams will be loosely based on grade and a skills evaluation (not by school). We anticipate grades will be combined based on the total number of participants that register. Genders will be combined for flag football. All teams will be formed at the discretion of CARD staff and skills evaluations.
Skills Evaluations: CARD will contact participants for a mandatory skills evaluation only if needed for a specific grade/school. Not all grades/schools will need a skills evaluation.
Weather: All changes to field conditions and weather updates (rain, air quality, etc.) will be made one hour before your scheduled practice or game at www.ChicoRec.gov/fields. If necessary, games will be rescheduled up to one additional week.
