Welcome to Nature Explorers!

We are so excited to have you join our amazing nature camp. Nature Explorers runs 9AM-1PM in the Nature Center Tucker Hall building.

Daily Camp Essentials

  • Snacks for snack time AND a large, healthy, and manageable lunch for lunch time. Nature kids get hungry so the more food the better!
  • A water bottle that is easy to open and close and does not spill.
  • A towel.
  • Bug spray/ sunscreen already applied for the day.
  • A swimsuit already on under regular clothes and a change of clothes in a zip lock bag to send wet clothes home in.
  • Closed toe, waterproof shoes, with ankle strap - No flip flops! Please send kids with their swimwear and shoes already on.
    • We will be climbing, running, playing in dirt, and swimming in the creek.
    • If it is safe, we will be outside regardless of the weather.
    • A small backpack works well to keep extra clothes in.
    • Please make sure your swimsuit option still allows campers to use the bathroom easily and independently.

Nature Explorers Information

Our day will begin at the welcome table where kiddos will sign in. Please fill out the attached Emergency Contact Form and bring it with you on your first day of camp. Only the people listed on this form are allowed to pick your child(ren) up and photo ID is required every day. You will only need to fill this out once and can do so onsite if needed. We are happy to help facilitate quick, confident goodbyes at the check in table, as these can be hard for little ones. After goodbyes we enter our Nature Circle Zone to put belongings in cubbies, meet other campers, and play! Every morning will begin with circle time where we will get to know each other, sing songs, read stories, and talk about camp rules. We will also talk about our current theme, move our bodies through dance and yoga, and go over our schedule for the day.

Please familiarize yourself with the following camp rules and expectations to ensure a safe and fun week together:

  • The Nature Explorers phone number is 530-519-8252 (call or text is fine). Please save this number to your phone.
  • Ms. Ellen’s email: eflasch@chicorec.gov
  • All personal toys, blankets and non-related items must stay at home. (Exception: arm floaties / PFDs are ok).
  • Please dress your child(ren) in clothing appropriate for going on long walks and using the bathroom easily and independently.
  • Please remember to label all belongings.
