Advanced Bot Builders Camps offer a week of applying the elements of robotics. Campers will put your new skills to the test in our competition at the end of the week using VEX V5 robotics platform! Campers will be placed in teams, led by Alumni of Butte Built Bots and Inspire Robotics in designing, building, and operating a robot in an exciting game at the end of the week! If you participated last summer, the game will be different so we would love you to join us again! If you have never participated in a robotics program before we encourage you to check out the other BotBuilders camps offered by IRON Cal.

Fly high at this unique circus themed camp. Learn basics on the lyra (hoop), aerial hammock and trapeze! Also, have fun with hula hoops, balancing skills, acrobatics, and silly skits. Looking for a more advanced dance experience this summer? Our Ballet Camp is designed to help dancers refine their technique and grow their passion for ballet. Students will work on full barre routines to build strength and precision, across-the-floor combinations and center work to enhance fluidity, artistic expression through choreography and creative activities, fun games, learning opportunities and bonding moments for an unforgettable experience.

During our week together, we will do a variety of classic camp crafts. We will make beaded animal keychains, beaded bracelets, and learn to use basic bead looms. Students will also weave small bags, make woven mandalas, and tie-dye bandanas. There will be lots of variety and explorations of different materials in this camp.

Our cheer instructor will work with your beginner or experienced cheerleader. Learn and review the basics skills and terminology. More experienced cheerleaders can also work on the skills they want to achieve. Practice motions, jumps, tumbling, dance as well as strength and flexibility exercises.

We will have fun learning conversational Chinese (Mandarin), while doing crafts and activities to immerse ourselves in a little Chinese culture! We will even practice writing characters as well as make and eat Chinese food!

Learn video making techniques from accomplished film makers, teachers, and students. Students will be given a prompt and work in small groups to create a short film.

Campers will also get to decorate a fantasy-inspired writing journal.

Enchanted Gardens & Dreamy Designs Camp at Chico Creative is a magical adventure where creativity and imagination come to life! Kids will join art instructor Jessica Mae, as they design their own fairy gardens, crafting tiny, enchanted worlds filled with charming details, and creating beautiful dream catchers to catch their sweetest dreams. With a mix of nature, art, and a sprinkle of magic, this camp is perfect for kids ages 6 and up who love to create, explore, and believe in a little fairy dust!

Let your imagination run wild in this creative drawing camp! Campers will learn how to draw fantasy characters, magical creatures, and enchanted worlds. We'll use different materials like colored pencils, pens, and watercolors to bring life to our drawings. By the end of the week, we will work on combining our creations together to make a short comic or illustrated story.

Who doesn't love food and fluffy creatures? In this camp, we will make a variety of felt and fabric food through sewing, gluing and needle felting. We will also make pom-pom animals and other fuzzy creations. Designs can be turned into jewelry, mobiles, magnets, and pins. There will be guided instructions for specific food and animals as well as lots of room for creativity and improvisation.

Playing games is super fun, but kids also learn so much about strategy, competition, sportsmanship, teamwork and even math! We'll play new games, group games, card games, dice games, active games, trivia, etc.

Working on a back handspring, back tuck or aerial? How about walk-overs on the beam or a kip on the bar. If you want to perfect those skills or continue to practice them, then this camp is for you. We’ll get serious with stretching, conditioning and focusing on those skills YOU’RE trying to achieve. With a bit of personalization this camp is like none other. Please bring water and a snack.

A summer dance intensive right here in Chico with the best of the best home-grown talent! Many Inspire alumni have gone on to professional careers in choreography and dance education and now they are all coming together for one week to work with you!!! Contemporary, hip-hop, jazz, aerial silks, and so much more! Dancers will get a taste of what is current in the industry and what dance at Inspire can be! Beginning through Advanced technique levels will be taught in multiple dance styles and genres. The day will start with a full body warm up followed by instruction in the dance styles that will cover technical skills and choreography.

A “Zine,” short for magazine, is a mini handmade art booklet. A zine could have a story inside, poetry, pictures, comics, drawings, collages, recipes, or any creative thing! In this camp we’ll learn more about zine making and hand stitching a homemade booklet full of our art and stories.

Students will have fun creating with paint and drawing materials under the guidance of Janet Lombardi Blixt. The focus will be on individual creativity and exploration of materials. Graphite, charcoal, tempra, and watercolor paints will be some of the mediums.

Throughout our week we will launch into leadership with an action-packed, one-week summer camp intensively built to ignite leadership skills. With hands-on activities, team-building, event planning, and expert guidance from passionate mentors, each day we will explore essential leadership qualities like communication, problem-solving, collaboration, and decision-making, all while forming friendships and gaining confidence as a leader. From adventure challenges and games to inspiring workshops & stories, each day will be packed with opportunities to learn, grow, and lead. By the end every camper will leave feeling empowered and equipped with the skills to launch into leadership in their school, community, and beyond! Join us this summer for an exciting mountain bike camp designed for riders of all skill levels! Whether you're a beginner just getting started or have some experience under your belt, this camp is perfect for you. Our program covers the fundamentals of mountain biking, trail safety, and the importance of being respectful on the trails in Upper and Lower Park. Most importantly, we focus on having fun while riding! 

Join us for an amazing week of young artists gathering to grow their voice, acting, and dance skills and celebrate their unique selves. Students will study proper musical theatre voice technique from credentialed and certified vocal instructors, observe master classes led by musical theatre professionals, and explore musical theater styles! Solo and ensemble techniques will be learned.

Paint Dot & Splash Camp at Chico Creative is a fun-filled, hands-on adventure where kids can get creative with dot painting, guided painting, and pour painting! Young artists will join art instructor Jessica Mae, in making mesmerizing dot patterns, follow step-by-step instructions to create masterpieces on canvas, and experiment with swirling, flowing paint techniques to create one-of-a-kind artwork.

During our week together, we will explore a variety of paper crafts, including paper making, collage, mini zine making, origami, basic bookbinding, and sculpting using paper clay. There will be guided instruction as well as lots of room for creativity and improvisation.

Pastel & Flipbook Imagination Camp at Chico Creative is an artistic adventure where kids bring their ideas to life through drawing, flipbooks, and pastels! Young artists will join art instructor Jessica Mae, as they explore shading and blending with pastels, experiment with different drawing techniques, and even create their own mini flipbook animations.

Design, print and sell your own T-shirts with Pedal Press! Workshop participants will learn in our Fair St. studio, fundamental graphic design concepts, how to design for screen printing, how to prepare screens, and print their own t-shirts! Each participant will print a small run of T-shirts to sell at a local pop-up/Thursday Farmers’ Market. Campers can keep their remaining shirts or sell them on our Youth Art web store!

Our performing arts program is supported by a very rich technical theater department. Participants will be involved in every aspect of stagecraft, from costuming and make-up, to lighting, sound, props and set design and construction. We will learn beginning design-work on Inspire’s fall production the The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical and learn about hanging lights and lighting design for our summer dance intensive.
