Eddie Booth Softball Field

Named in honor of Eddie Booth in 1985, this field recognizes his decades of dedication to sports, youth, and community service in Chico. More than 150 people gathered at the 20th Street Community Park dedication ceremony, where Booth was surprised with the announcement that the field would bear his name. Booth served 14 years on the CARD Board of Directors, including four years as chairman during which the groundwork for Community Park was laid.
A graduate of Orland High School, Booth began his journalism career at the Enterprise-Record in 1953 as sports editor, later serving as city editor and eventually editor of special projects and community relations. He was deeply involved in local athletics, spending more than 20 years as a respected baseball and softball official in the Mid-Valley Area, as well as volunteering with Chico Little League and American Legion baseball. His service was recognized with induction into the Chico Sports Hall of Fame in 1974.
Booth’s leadership, integrity, and love of the game left a lasting impact on Chico. The field named in his honor continues to celebrate his contributions and inspire generations of athletes and community members.
