Advanced Bot Builders Camps offer a week of applying the elements of robotics. Campers will put your new skills to the test in our competition at the end of the week using VEX V5 robotics platform! Campers will be placed in teams, led by Alumni of Butte Built Bots and Inspire Robotics in designing, building, and operating a robot in an exciting game at the end of the week! If you participated last summer, the game will be different so we would love you to join us again! If you have never participated in a robotics program before we encourage you to check out the other BotBuilders camps offered by IRON Cal.

Are you interested in making movies? Have you ever wondered what it’d be like to be a cinematographer, a video editor, or a director? Come join the next generation of Chico film makers. Learn video making techniques from accomplished film makers, teachers, and students. Students will be given a prompt and work in small groups to create a short film.

Come explore your creativity and sculpture skills in this fun, two-week long, hands-on ceramics workshop. Together we’ll use our hands and clay to create a variety of small ceramic animal dishes, sculptures, and more! Week one students will learn to sculpt their clay critter sculptures and week two we will learn different decorative techniques including, glazing, underglazing, and painting.

A summer dance intensive right here in Chico with the best of the best home-grown talent! Many Inspire alumni have gone on to professional careers in choreography and dance education and now they are all coming together for one week to work with you!!! Contemporary, hip-hop, jazz, aerial silks, and so much more! Dancers will get a taste of what is current in the industry and what dance at Inspire can be! Beginning through Advanced technique levels will be taught in multiple dance styles and genres. The day will start with a full body warm up followed by instruction in the dance styles that will cover technical skills and choreography.

A “Zine,” short for magazine, is a mini handmade art booklet. A zine could have a story inside, poetry, pictures, comics, drawings, collages, recipes, or any creative thing! In this camp we’ll learn more about zine making and hand stitching a homemade booklet full of our art and stories.

Throughout our week we will launch into leadership with an action-packed, one-week summer camp intensively built to ignite leadership skills. With hands-on activities, team-building, event planning, and expert guidance from passionate mentors, each day we will explore essential leadership qualities like communication, problem-solving, collaboration, and decision-making, all while forming friendships and gaining confidence as a leader. From adventure challenges and games to inspiring workshops & stories, each day will be packed with opportunities to learn, grow, and lead. By the end every camper will leave feeling empowered and equipped with the skills to launch into leadership in their school, community, and beyond! Each day will have a unique theme, and we encourage participants to dress up for each!

This math camp celebrates the many different ways that we can see and understand mathematical ideas. Come learn how math is an open, creative, and visual subject. Our camp will show you that every problem can be seen and solved differently.

Join us for an amazing week of young artists gathering to grow their voice, acting, and dance skills and celebrate their unique selves. Students will study proper musical theatre voice technique from credentialed and certified vocal instructors, observe master classes led by musical theatre professionals, and explore musical theater styles! Solo and ensemble techniques will be learned.

Have you ever wanted to play in a rock band!? Pop and Rock Band Camp combines the interests and talents of student musicians who play guitar, drums, bass, keyboards, and/or sing. The camp, for intermediate to advanced, offers the opportunity for student musicians to learn how to play and perform classic and current pop and rock songs.

Ready to discover the magic of coding? Join our Python Power Up camp and learn to speak the language of computers! This beginner-friendly camp is perfect for anyone who's curious about programming. Using Python, a popular and easy-to-learn language, you'll master the basics of coding, from variables and input/output to conditional statements and loops – the building blocks of any program.

Escape the midday heat and uncover the magic of storytelling through movie screenings, discussions, and hands-on projects. Campers are encouraged to bring healthy snacks, water bottles, notebooks, and pens or markers for writing and drawing.

Our performing arts program is supported by a very rich technical theater department. Participants will be involved in every aspect of stagecraft, from costuming and make-up, to lighting, sound, props and set design and construction with help from members of our current Production Team. We will work on creating an actual stage performance and learn about hanging lights and lighting design for our summer dance intensive. Participants will learn basic building and scenic painting skills and we will do some fun special effects makeup projects.

Plus, we'll take a peek behind the curtain at the amazing careers that await in the game industry, from designers to artists to programmers. Get ready to brainstorm, build, test, and play your own original games in a week of creative fun!
